Everyone who has seen my video has a question: what kind of thread is used for this? Now I will make an explanation.

1.Jade Thread
This is the most commonly used thread for weaving bracelets and necklaces. It is also the most commonly used thread for jade accessories.
It has a fine sheen in light. The material is nylon yarn, and the thread can be heated with a small fire to burn and stick.
Jade thread is divided into: No. 71 , No. 72 , Yusi jade thread, A , B, C , D jade thread, 180 jade thread, Baoyu thread, etc.
* No. 71 is the thinnest, with a diameter of only 0.4mm (0.016in).
* No. 72, 0.8mm (0.03in) diameter.
*Yusi jade thread, which is wrapped with a fishing thread, looks round and hard on the surface, with a diameter of 0.5mm (0.02in);
*Baoyu thread is ordinary, the density is not high, the diameter is 1mm (0.04in);
*A, B, C, D jade thread density is high, the diameter is 1mm (0.04in), 1.2mm (0.05in), 1.5mm (0.06in), 2mm (0.08in);
*180 jade thread is the highest density , and there are many kinds of colors.

Among them, No. 72 and A jade thread are most suitable for weaving various bracelets, necklaces, pendants, and oblique knots; they are more suitable for the aperture of most bead accessories.

2.Chinese Knot Thread
This thread material contains cotton and nylon, and the thread end can be heated with a small fire to burn. It has a silky sheen and is smooth and soft. However, if it is hooked by a sharp object, it is prone to fluff, so it is basically used as a core, and a layer of strands is wrapped around it as a winding.
Chinese knot threads are divided into:
No. 7, diameter 1.5mm (0.06in)
No. 6, diameter 2mm (0.08in)
No. 5 , diameter 2.5mm (0.1in)
No. 4, diameter 3.5mm (0.14in)
No. 3, diameter 5.5mm (0.22in)
No. 2, diameter 6.5mm (0.26in)
No. 1, diameter 12mm (0.47in)

The most commonly used are No. 5 and No. 6.

3.Ply Yarn
Ply yarn, also known as tower thread, has a tower-shaped spool. The texture is twist-like. We usually choose No. 3  (diameter 0.3mm/0.01in) or No. 6 (diameter 0.45mm/0.02in) of gold and silver ply yarn for winding.

4.Waxed Thread
The waxed thread is wrapped with a layer of wax, which is mainly used for weaving oblique knots, such as the weaving of South American style macrame. According to the shape, it is divided into flat waxed thread and round waxed thread. We usually choose to use 0.8mm (0.03in) or 1mm (0.04in) flat waxed thread.

If you are a novice, it is recommended to choose a  No. 5 or No. 6 Chinese knot thread for practice.

If you feel that you have good manual skills, or already have a certain foundation, and want to weave several finished products, then you can choose any one of No. 72 jade thread, A jade thread, 0.8mm (0.03in) flat waxed thread, 1mm (0.04in)  flat wax thread.
